How to Make a Winter Village Candle Holder - Polymer Clay Menorah Tutorial

Happy Hanukkah! I searched high and low for a cool menorah last year, but most menorahs are either very traditional *cough*BORING*cough or exPONsive. So I decided to make my own from polymer clay! I've nicknamed this the "shtetl menorah" because "shtetl" is the Yiddish word for a small village or town. This project can be easily modified for different candle sizes or styles it doesn't have to b...

    I love the idea, and I’m not meaning to say anything negative just slight suggestion….because the placement of bottom of rib cage is not the most flattering to the natural breast kinda giving the impression the breast is lower the rib cage, or maybe this look works better on smaller cup sizes, I’m new to this so maybe I am over thinking it….so when I try this I am wondering what I can do to maybe fix this gravitational look? Maybe this is actually the most realistic….so if I am wrong please don’t tear me to shreds it’s just an honest observation because I plan to rock this look too

      Maybe wider at bottom of rib cage would do it?

      I’ve had titty related issues when it comes to crafting aswell lmfao. Try scaling up the design, as smaller designs are more prone to morphing when the fabric is manipulated/stretched. Also, line up the stencil closest to your natural rib cage placement, as this will give the fabric a natural position that imitates the way breasts sit under the rib cage normally. Idk if I worded this well but I hope it helps :)

      @@rainman9882 thanks for getting what I meant cuz I know it’s not meant to be anatomically correct, and I am sure it’s just practice to figure out size and placement to the body which is why it’s best to use a chalk pen before committing to permanent markings….

    I know this video is old, but maybe you'll see this anyway. Been using kids glue on fabric for years, works great. Another trick is to use a lighter to burn the ends of the zipper and do a tack stitich on the end to strenghten it. Great Video.

      If you put a piece of elastic in your waistband with a slit cut in so you can fish the elastic out, you can gather the fabric to fit your waist at different sizes by tying a knot in the elastic. Think like how you cinch a hoodie Hood with the pull cord but with a hidden elastic inside of the waistband.

    To make patterns like this shown , is not quick an easy. Fold your well fitting undies in the middle and copy them taking a transparent paper or plastic bag and mark the lines of front and turn it and mark the back.

    I have another question please. I am going to try Insulbrite like you suggested which sounds great for a few outdoor cats on a porch. When attaching it to the fabric, is the metallic looking side against the back of the fabric? It looked like that in the video but wanted to be sure, or does it matter? I am very happy you made this tutorial. Thanks again.

    I followed the math but my hole is way too big :( whyyy

    • @smarmyclothes
      @smarmyclothes 8 місяців тому

      There are 2 potential issues: when marking and cutting the radius, even small variations can impact the size of the hole. If I were to cut my radius at 6.5" instead of 6.28", for example, I'd get a hole that was 41" instead of 39". The second issue is that fabric cut on the bias stretches, even with non-stretch fabric. The nature of a circle skirt means that part of the hole is cut on the bias. If you combine both of these issues, then a mis-measured hole might end up even bigger than a few inches off. An easy fix is to gather the extra fabric into the waistband, which you already do with this tutorial since we end up easing the "extra" fabric from our hip measurement to make it fit the elastic cut to our waist measurement.

    I hate my serger. I honestly dont feel like i can control it no matter what i try. I've watched a million videos and i get it in principle but i just dont seem to be able to control it to just sew straight. Using the seam guides are useless as you can't really line up the edge accurately as the machine is so fast even when you are going slow. I feel so much more control over using a sewing machine but the serger is just crazy and i want to be good at it 😢
